I would recommend [The Kubernetes Control Plane for Busy People Who Like Pictures](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCXiXKMqnuE) where @lavalamp (Daniel Smith) goes through most of the controllers in kube-contoller-manager. It’s pretty informative talk if you want to know internal stuff. ---

It was my first KubeCon, and I had such a great time - I’ll definitely be coming along next year! I really enjoyed the “hallway track” and just running into and chatting to lots of different people - I wonder if there could be more official slots for this, e.g. networking sessions perhaps based around areas of interest (like AWS, controllers, security to name a few). I did see many great talks - if I had to pick just three (in random order): - [Keynote: Reperforming a Nobel Prize discovery on Kubernetes](https://youtu.be/CTfp2woVEkA) - two engineers from CERN do a mindblowing live demo where they rediscover the Higgs Boson - [Henning Jacobs - Kubernetes Failure Stories And How To Crash Your Cluster](https://youtu.be/6sDTB4eV4F8) - we hear a lot about K8s working really well, but its fascinating to hear about when it goes wrong too! - [Benjamin Elder/James Mullaney - Testing Your K8s apps With KIND](https://youtu.be/8KtmevMFfxA) - testing apps which rely on the K8s API is hard without spinning up a full cluster - KIND is a project which spins up clusters in seconds inside Docker containers ---

I have watched far from all talks but so far the ones I would recommend other people to watch are: - [Deep Dive: Cortex](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYyFT4ChHio) - talking about query optimizations for time-series databases (obviously cortex in specific but applicable anywhere really) - [Scale Kubernetes Service Endpoints 100x](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5JOCCbJ_Fg) - essentially a talk around the [proposal to make endpoints scale](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1sLJfolOeEVzK5oOviRmtHOHmke8qtteljQPaDUEukxY/edit#heading=h.gxaz17yigujd) (also a good read if you haven’t already) - [Es-operator: Building an Elasticsearch Operator From the Bottom Up](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lprE0J0kAq0) - great to see more production focused operators being developed (personally I think lots of the functionality here should probably be an upstream feature of some sort in terms of autoscaling) - [Kubernetes Networking at Scale](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvoImel5qfc) - good summary and current state of known issues with scaling networking in Kubernetes ---
