# Gracefully shut down microk8s cluster

I need to shut down a bare metal microk8s cluster and was not able to find any info or docs on doing this properly.

Is it possible to shutdown all nodes in a cluster without breaking anything on the dqlite or kubelite side of things? If breaking the cluster is unavoidable how would the recovery work?
