DNS add-on not able to set custom IP

I am unable to get the configmap to use my custom IP when issuing the command:

microk8s enable dns:1.1.1.1

It remains using the default 8.8.8.8 8.8.8.4. Has something changed? I am using 1.17.17 classic.
