Persist pod logs of on-prem cluster using NFS Storage

This is related to on-prem kubernetes cluster. Most of the articles describe sidecar or deamonset approach for cluster level logging in Kubernetes.
We have NFS storage and can we use that for mounting logs files inside pods to persist logs. Is there any performance issues, drawbacks in this approach.
