PV size has not impact when underline storage increase or decreases in case of nfs volums

Cluster information:

Kubernetes version: 1.18.14
Cloud being used: azure
Installation method: aks cluster azure with terraform/cli
Host OS: Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS
CNI and version:
CRI and version: docker://19.3.14

Strange - I am using kubernetes version v1.18.14 on our aks nodes in azure. But one documentation or confirmation I am not able to find is that I created pv with maximum size of 100TB and when underline storage reduce to 50TB or 100gb or increase to 200TB in case of nfs volume then pv and pvc has no impact i.e no need to change pv size accordingly to match underline nfs storage size and no need to restart pods . is that correct behaviour ? I am not able to find in kubernetes documentation any thing which confirms or stress on this behaviour in k8s. Can some one help what is wrong or reason of no impact on persistent volume definition.
